Doubts

This subject does not often come to mind when asked what can make or break a person. When you doubt yourself, you doesn't believe in your given abilities. When others doubt you, they do not believe that you were given abilities. Doubt is an active fear that keeps us from seeing anything but negativties. Doubt causes us to think that there is danger ahead of us. Doubt accelerates fear.

Doubt can only be managed by having strong values and principles. But knowing what you believe to be true at its core, is true. And the clinging to that truth through the storms. It is the lack of these anchors that causes one to doubt their own abilities, coping skills and analytical tools. If the world is a cube, all the self confidence is worthless. But with principles and tools that can assess information and see beyond what is - to what might be - doubt can disappear.

As a Christian, truth for me is the Bible. It is the foundation of my values and beliefs. If I cling to those through the storms, doubt cannot dissuade me. But if I let them go and start to cling to my abilities and skills. To cling to the things of this world, then I am casting about for stability which is not there. The only rock, for me, is Biblical truth. The Bible says Fear NOT, for I am with you. And to that I cling.
